2010: EOS celebrates its birthday

Initially launched as a marketing label, EOS is now an umbrella brand that stands for the high quality of service delivered by EOS companies all over the world.

‘This is a reason to thank our clients for their trust and to thank our staff for their commitment,’ says Hans-Werner Scherer, Chairman of the EOS Group’s Board of Directors.

The past decade has been marked by expansion to new countries, the introduction of new services and a strengthening of the Group’s core competence – receivables management.

The seeds of the present-day EOS Group were sown in 1974 when Deutscher Inkasso-Dienst (DID) was formed from the Otto Group’s arrears billing and legal department. The company set its sights on permanent national and international growth early on, taking its first big step abroad in 1981 with the establishment of Euro Incasso-Dienst (EID) in the Netherlands. As well as setting up new companies, the Group has invested in firms with years of market expertise: EOS mercator has been around for nearly 80 years, while US company EOS CCA started business operations in 1992. ‘This mix of experienced and new companies is what makes EOS successful,’ says Mr Scherer. The same is true of the combination of local know-how and international network. All EOS companies have a local management team that is familiar with the respective market situation.

By the year 2000, it was clear that DID had evolved from a business focused purely on debt collection to one of Europe’s leading financial service companies. It was time to create a common identity and to demonstrate the strength of the growing network to clients and staff: the EOS brand was born.
